Toyota Sequoia or Toyota Highlander, Which SUV is Right for You?
If you’re looking for an SUV, there are several lines to choose from in the Manassas, Virginia area. Two strong contenders are the 2016 Toyota Sequoia and Toyota Highlander. Knowing which one is right for you can be a difficult choice. Here are some things to consider when looking at these two SUVs.
Toyota SUV Performance
The Toyota Sequoia is a bigger SUV than the Toyota Highlander. As such, they have very different engines. The Sequoia’s 381 horsepower V-8 can tow up to 7,400 pounds. The smaller Highlander has a 185 horsepower 4-cylinder to tow up to 5,000 pounds. This alone might give Manassas SUV buyers enough to go on, if their goal is an SUV with lots of power. However, with the engine size difference comes different fuel efficiency. The Sequoia gets 13 mpg city/17 mpg highway*, while the Highlander gets 20 mpg city/25 mpg highway*.
Toyota SUV Cargo Space
Because the Sequoia is bigger, it has more cargo space than the Highlander. While the Highlander still has a very large space for cargo at 83.7 cubic feet behind the front row, the Sequoia has an enormous advantage with 120.1 cubic feet. This goes down a bit behind the second row to 66.6 with the Sequoia versus the Highlander’s 42.3 cubic feet. The third row, where the cargo space is mostly used on a day-to-day basis, is even closer. The Sequoia’s 18.9 cubic feet is still bigger than the Highlander’s 13.8 cubic feet, but there are days when that won’t even matter.
Each SUV seats eight, but there is more comfort in the Sequoia, again due to size.
The 2016 Sequoia and the 2016 Highlander have significant differences in some areas. Whether you are more likely to need or want the mass of the Sequoia or are fine with the more diminutive Highlander and its better fuel efficiency may come into play with your decision.
