What Is Toyota Doing to Keep Passengers Safe?
Relax a bit while driving your Toyota around Virginia with the knowledge that Toyota is doing whatever possible to keep you and your passengers safe. Toyota is known for offering the latest safety features and innovations, including the Star Safety System as standard across the lineup. Toyota is also taking other steps to push safety technology further than before.
Star Safety System
The Toyota Star Safety system is a combination of six advanced safety technologies found on every single Toyota model. It includes vehicle stability control, traction control, the smart stop system, brake assist, ABS, and electronic brake-force distribution.
Safety Sense
In addition to the Star Safety System that comes standard, more and more Toyota models are offering the Toyota Safety Sense system. This system is designed to ensure you stay in your lane, prevent collisions, and reduce the impact of collisions that can’t be avoided. It includes Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Automatic High Beams, Lane Departure Alert, and a Pre-Collision System featuring Pedestrian Detection.
Teen Driving Initiatives
Toyota has also taken the time to create various teen driving initiatives throughout the years. These encourage teens to drive more safely and reduce distracted driving in a way that teens can connect with. So far, around 1.5 million drivers have participated in these initiatives.
Constant Investment
To ensure that Toyota drivers have access to the latest safety technology, Toyota spends more than $1 million every hour for research and development. In fact, the automaker recently announced a plan to invest $1 billion during the next five years to work toward developing even more advanced safety features. This research money will largely be spent developing artificial intelligence systems that can supplement the current sensors and cameras on Toyota safety technology systems.
