Tips To Keep Your Car Running Like New

The new car smell may have faded. For that matter, the new car's newness in general is, well, let's just say your vehicle's aging. After all, with every mile you drive, it loses a little more of its value. There's more wear. More tear. But fortunately there's something you can do about it. A fountain of youth for your automobile - kind of. Here are some tips to keep your car running like new.

Don't Skip Scheduled Maintenance Service

Just like you need to visit your doctor regularly for routine checkups, your car needs to visit the shop for scheduled maintenance as well. Be sure to check your manual, or better yet ask a Toyota service technician,  for information on your spark plugs, fluids, belts, and other parts.

Change Your Oil

These days, most cars don't need an oil change every 3,000 miles. But they do need an oil change, typically around every 7,000 to 10,000 miles. Take a look at your owner's manual or ask an expert to see what is right for your vehicle.

Use The Right Octane Fuel

Higher is not better. That's right, using a fuel that is a higher octane level than what your engine was designed for can actually lower your efficiency.

Get Your Tires Rotated

Tires don't wear evenly. They carry the load in different ways. That's why the tread will begin to wear down on one part faster than the other. Make sure you have your tires rotated regularly to ensure that your car lasts and your ride is smooth.

Replace Your Air Filter

If you want better acceleration and fuel economy - and who doesn't - then a fresh air filter is the way to go. It catches debris that can get sucked into your engine.
