Attend Haymarket Day

For more than 30 years, Haymarket Day has brought our community together for a Saturday filled with fun and fellowship, and this year’s festival promises to be better than ever. The annual event has become a highlight of autumn here in Haymarket, as over 20,000 people gather downtown to enjoy music, food, crafts, and a morning parade, all complemented by classic Virginia architecture and the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Call up your family and friends, and make plans to attend the 31 Annual Haymarket Day this October!

When and Where

The festival will be held in downtown Haymarket on Saturday, October 19. It will run from 10 in the morning until 5 that evening. For reference, Haymarket Town Hall is located at 15000 Washington Street, Haymarket, Virginia 20169. The main streets will be closed off for the festival, so plan to park at the lots designated for the event. There will be shuttle service running to and from Haymarket Fairgrounds, PACE West School, Tyler Elementary, and the Heathcote Blvd Park & Ride lot.

The Parade

The festivities kick off with a parade starting at 10 a.m. The grand marshal will lead the way as a procession of local school marching bands, various performers, and law enforcement personnel make their way through the streets of Haymarket. Spectators may see decorated floats by local organizations and groups, classic cars, Shriners in mini-mobiles, old Union uniforms with flags and drums, stilt walkers, and other sights.

The Annual Festival

After the parade has run its course, stick around for a day full of fun and amusement. More than 200 vendors will set up booths and tents to offer a broad selection of handmade arts, crafts, and other goods. If you get hungry, you can visit a food truck or booth for delicious festival fare. In previous years, guests have enjoyed crab cakes, kabobs, funnel cake, burgers, shrimp, and much more. Musicians will perform throughout the day, and special gardens will be set up to serve cold beverages. The town park will also host a kid’s zone with fun and games for the children.
