About the ARTfactory

The ARTfactory is a not-for-profit organization that provides kids anywhere from the age of five to 18 with fun art programs. In 1984, the ARTfactory was founded by a group of artists and art enthusiasts to enrich the quality of life in Northern Virginia. The ARTfactory was relocated in 2002 to the old Hopkins Candy Factory building in Manassas. The ARTfactory is now a cornerstone of the downtown arts community. This not-for-profit offers an art gallery, theater arts, visual arts, education, dance classes, Arts on the Go, summer camps, and a summer concert series.

The ARTfactory Art Gallery

The art gallery is named the Caton Merchant Family Gallery and features exhibitions of local and regional artists. To connect the community with the artists, each exhibit has an artist reception. In addition to these artists, the gallery also puts on an annual adjudicated art contest for local high school students. The submissions include poetry and wearable art.

Summer Art and Theater Camps

These ARTfactory summer camps are a great way to enrich and teach children ages five to 18 about the visual arts and theatre. The camps can last anywhere from one to three weeks. They are also designed for half days or full days. The ARTfactory summer camps have been recognized by Washingtonian magazine for offering creative and challenging programs in the arts. Virginia Living magazine also voted ARTfactory “Best of Virginia” in 2018. At the conclusion of each camp, the children put on a community performance so that they can show off their talents.
