Why the Name Change?
You might have noticed that this festival has undergone a name change. It used to be called the Manassas Wine and Jazz Festival, but now, it’s the Manassas Jazz Festival. That makes it sound like it offers less, right?
The name change actually happened because it now offers more.
When the festival first began, it was way to support local wineries while offering jazz music. Now, though, the state isn’t just full of some of the best wineries around. It also has craft breweries and distilleries. Once the organizers decided to invite the breweries and distillers to take part in the festival, they realized they had to change the name. In this case, the name change was a good thing. It means you get so much more for the price of admission.

The Performers
Enough about the drinks. What about the performers? There are going to be some good ones this year.
The Eric Byrd Trio is going to get the party started at noon. This is one of the most exciting jazz bands on the festival circuit right now. The three guys have played together for close to 20 years and have a unique sound that’s rooted in bebop and swing. You’ll also notice a hint of the blues in the band’s music.
Aimee Bayles is the next performer on the list. Bayles is based in New York City, but she used to call Manassas home. The singer-songwriter is known for her modern folk music that has blues and jazz undertones.
Marcus Johnson will close out the festival. The independent Billboard-ranked jazz musician is most known for his skills on the keys. He is a brilliant jazz keyboardist and can improvise solos with the best of them. You’ll notice some rap and R&B influences in his playing style.
